What is the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Credential?

Curriculum Aligned with the American Society for Quality
The curriculum of this Executive Education certificate program from the Kelley School is completely aligned with the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Green Belt Body of Knowledge. It also offers the only online courseware that has been reviewed and approved by ASQ. Upon successful completion of the certificate program and a score of 80% or greater on the cumulative exam, participants will receive Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from the Kelley School of Business.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
Format: Online business certificate comprised of four courses that are each 4 weeks long (16 weeks total). The last course will also include a process improvement project simulation as a capstone event. Live virtual coaching and review sessions will be offered weekly, and the online course includes instructor support. Access to the online courseware will be provided for 12 months, along with a license to EngineRoom data analysis software, which is included. By completing the four-course series, participants will earn a certificate from the Kelley School of Business. Participants who score 80% or higher on the cumulative exam will also earn a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from the Kelley School of Business.
Estimated Time Commitment: Five to six hours each week (including a weekly synchronous session online.)

Integrated Business Curriculum
The Kelley School of Business is nationally recognized for its innovative online programs. This 16-week program is delivered by full-time faculty members from the No. 1–ranked Kelley Online MBA Program (U.S. News & World Report, 2020).
Students will complete 4 courses and pass the cumulative exam to earn a certificate of completion and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification through the Kelley School of Business.
Introduction to Lean Six Sigma. Learn about Lean Six Sigma concepts and language, and the Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) roadmap for improvement.
Project Initiation. Discover a process for selecting improvement projects and tracking those projects, as well as tools to lead teams and manage change.
Voice of the Customer. Learn a systematic process to collect voice-of-the-customer information, analyze that information, fully develop customer requirements, and translate those requirements into specifications.
Mapping the Process. Explore tools to investigate the process of interest by creating visual maps of process flow, including suppliers, inputs, process, outputs, and customers (SIPOC) maps, Process Flow Charts, Value-Added Flow Charts and Value Stream Maps.
Measurements & Basic Statistics. Learn about measurement fundamentals, including types of metrics, as well as basic statistical terms and forms of graphical analysis.
Measurement System Analysis. Gain tools to collect sample data, evaluate the reliability of those measurements, and establish baseline process performance.
Charting Process Behavior. Explore statistical process control—a method to evaluate process stability over time, identify process shifts, and differentiate between normal variation and true process changes.
Identifying Potential Root Causes. Discover several tools and methods used to identify potential root causes of a problem of interest. Gain tools to evaluate statistical correlation between process inputs and outputs.
Testing Hypotheses. Learn statistical methods to test hypotheses, often used to ascertain whether or not there are real differences between various treatments or processes.
Improvement. Learn about tools used to implement improvements, including Lean methods to eliminate waste and improve process flow.
Control. Explore the Control phase of a DMAIC project, where ongoing process management becomes the focus after completing the project work.
Capstone: Sherlock Holmes Zombie Hunter Project Simulation Game. Practice new skills with a capstone simulation exercise—a highly interactive simulated DMAIC project game played by teams of participants.
Certification Exam. Participants must score 80% or higher on the cumulative exam to earn certification through the Kelley School of Business.
