James H. Davis, Ph.D. is the Buehler Endowed Professor of Management, Chairman of the Marketing and Strategy Department, Executive Director of the Stephan R. Covey Leadership Center, and Director of Executive Education in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business at Utah State University.
Prior to Utah State, he was the John F. O’Shaughnessy Professor of Family Enterprises and a Professor of Strategic Management in the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame for over twenty-five years, beginning in 1991. He has also been a professor on the graduate faculty of Purdue University and the German International School of Management and Administration.
James launched and directed the nationally ranked Gigot Center for Entrepreneurial studies at Notre Dame from 1998 through 2008. He won outstanding teaching awards of the year at the University of Notre Dame six times and at Purdue two times. The Academy of Management Review recognized his trust research as the most influential theory article of the decade
He has worked with many major national and multinational corporations throughout the world on strategic planning and positioning.
James’ research interests and publications are in the areas of corporate governance, family business, strategic decision-making, trust, and strategic alliances.
